Thank you for being a friend… and an icon.

Long before it was trendy to be progressive, The Golden Girls served sharp wit, big heart, and groundbreaking storylines from a little house in Miami. The series celebrated romance for “women of a certain age,” embraced LGBTQ+ stories with empathy and humor, and made all of us feel welcome on the lanai.

In honor of Pride Month, we’re screening a lineup of pivotal episodes that highlight the show’s legacy of acceptance and love:

“Isn’t It Romantic” – Dorothy’s college friend Jean visits after the death of her partner, and Rose is surprised to find herself the object of Jean’s affection.

“Scared Straight” – Blanche’s brother Clayton comes to town after his divorce, and Blanche must confront her own assumptions when she learns the truth about his marriage.

“72 Hours” – After a blood transfusion during surgery, Rose learns she may have been exposed to HIV. A bold, ahead-of-its-time episode that tackles fear and stigma with compassion.

“Goodbye Mr. Gordon” –A well-meaning TV interview takes an unexpected turn when Rose’s story about women roommates is misunderstood—leading to a sharp, funny take on labels and the dangers of making assumptions.

Smart, sincere, and endlessly quotable—these episodes remind us why the Girls are forever Golden!
