Time your visit to take in the sun setting over Chicago, watch a movie under the moon and stars, or bask in the warmth of the daytime sun. Regardless of the time of day, you are guaranteed stunning rooftop views.
Enter the hotel’s main lobby, turn left at the front desk and you’ll find the dedicated elevator to the rooftop. Take the elevator to the cinema entrance on the 6th floor (ADA guests can enter through the 5th floor).
The cinema is located on the 5th Floor Terrace at The Emily Hotel. The nearest L station is Morgan Station - take the Green or Pink line to Morgan Station and walk 2 minutes north (past Fulton Market) on Morgan Street. There is no parking available onsite, but there are several 24-hour parking garages in the area.
Guests are seated on a first-come, first-served basis. We always encourage guests to arrive early and all together to ensure they can select their preferred seats.
Screenings before 6 PM (Mon–Thurs) and 4:30 PM (Fri–Sun & holidays) are all ages. After that, guests must be 16+ and with an adult (18+).
The rooftop is fully exposed to the elements so please check the weather before attending. During daytime screenings you may want to apply sunblock, cover your shoulders and wear a hat, and on cool evenings bring a jacket or your favorite blanket.
No Refunds, but There's Always a Sequel!: All ticket sales are final (no refunds!), but if your plans get lost in the Matrix, you can transfer your tickets to another screening anytime before showtime—no extra charge, no hassle. We do everything we can to keep the movie magic alive, but if the weather pulls a plot twist, we’ll call it off and let you know at least one hour prior to the film start time via email. You can then choose to reschedule or get a full refund if you’ve opted for Weather Protection. For live updates, just check the screening status—think of it like checking the weather on your favorite movie's thumbnail!
We are a cashless business, so please come prepared with your debit or credit card to purchase food and beverage onsite.
Outside food or drinks will not be allowed into the venue.
We are Social Cinema – talk, laugh, text and snap to your heart’s content, but please be respectful of other guest’s experience, especially once the film begins. Unruly, disruptive or unnecessarily loud guests will be asked to leave.
