Awards Season 2019: Who Won What?

2018 was a beautiful rollercoaster for films, and we’d like to thank our fans, our family, and everyone who believed in us for this incredible opportunity to write a blog about the award ceremonies! Thank you, thank you! Never stop chasing your dreams!

Golden Globe Winners

Best Drama Motion Picture

Who won?

Bohemian Rhapsody

Who’s involved?

Freddie Merc- we mean… Rami Malek (easy mistake to make), Brian M- Gwilym Lee (oops), Roger Tay- Ben Hardy (gotta stop doing that…) and Ray Fos-uh… Mike Myers (no, not the dude in the mask — we pinky promise).

What happens?

One of the most inspiring human beings of ALL time, ever, in the history of the world, is here to remind you of what living is all about: trying to sing all the parts of Bohemian Rhapsody by yourself. You’ll leave feeling unafraid to be yourself, and even more daring than before.

Who did they beat?

If Beale Street Could Talk
A Star is Born
Black Panther
BlacKkKlansman

Best Musical or Comedy Motion Picture

Who won?

Green Book

Who’s involved?

The gorgeous Mahershala Ali who stole our hearts as Juan in Moonlight; Peter Farrelly, the epic director of Dumb and Dumber; and Viggo Mortensen who was one of the Aragorns at some point. Or something.

What happens?

Based on the true story (CHILLS) of an incredible pianist (seriously, it’s like he’s just pretending to play while a recording plays…) in America and his chauffeur as he travels while on tour. The journey is hilarious and emotional and if you don’t cry at least once then you probably didn’t see the bit after the credits… #SpoilerAlert!!! #TheyStayedCloseFriendsAndThenDiedMonthsApart

The Favourite
Mary Poppins Returns

Best Animated Feature Film

Who won?

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Who’s involved?

The queen of being seventeen Hailee Steinfeld, the king of alliteration Jake Johnson, and the dopest dreamboat around, Shameik Moore, give life to this masterpiece. Directed by the best humans around, including the director of the amazeballs Rise of the Guardians Peter Ramsey, comedy guru Rodney Rothman, and the cat-whisperer director of Puss in Boots Bob Persichetti!

What happens?

Spider-Man does whatever a Spider-Man can! Apparently that doesn’t include… uh… being alive. The blondie we all know and love has passed away, but he won’t be leaving a gap in the world. Ready to fill his shoes is the adorable Miles Morales, AKA 2019’s cosplay inspo.

BAFTAs Winners

Best Film

Who won?

Roma

Who’s involved?

Alfonso Cuarón is a director who just won’t stop proving how talented he is, as if Gravity, Y Tu Mamá También and A Little Princess just weren’t enough #ShrugEmoji. He’s bringing the mesmerising Marina de Tavira and Yalitza Aparicio (in her first EVER movie) into the spotlight with him, along with Victor Manuel Resendiz Ruiz… but you might know him as Latin Lover, the luchador with muscles that will poke your eye out from 10 feet away.

What happens?

It’s the saddest soap in the universe… but in movie form. If you’re one of those people who LIVES for #drama and crying and wondering why the world has to be so cruel, then this will definitely satisfy you. No group of people are without their problems… #ExistentialCrisis

Outstanding British Film

Who won?

The Favourite

Who’s involved?

The director of The Lobster and The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Yorgos Lanthimos, is here to take you on yet another unforgettable journey. Olivia Colman is looking regal AF beside Emma Stone and the super lovable and talented Rachel Weisz… That’s a lineup we can get on board with.

What happens?

The queen is the biggest #Mood ever (cut to: her crying on the floor). We’d all like the queen a bit more if we could actually see her stuff her face with delish food and have besties who look like Emma Stone and have epic aim. It’s a real power struggle and we’re living for it.
