What happens?

If you passed GCSE history, you should kinda be able to figure it out from the title. For those of you who preferred to take naps in class, it’s a year before the end of World War I. With the weight of almost 2,000 soldiers on their shoulders two British soldiers risk their lives to race across enemy lines to deliver an important message.

Who’s involved?

Quentin Tarantino is back and we’re PUMPED. Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio are both blessing our eyeballs with the mesmerising Margot Robbie. Like, seriously. How do we get cast for something like that?

What happens?

We’re throwing it back to the 1960s with an actor and his stunt double who are trying to make it big. We’re remembering the golden age of Hollywood in this Tarantino journey. Also, the soundtrack is totally epic.

Who’s involved?

Hugh Jackman is literally living his best life since leaving the MCU (until a prequel, probably) and is getting in the mind of a super lovable big cuddly cutiepie. Director Chris Butler (the genius behind ParaNorman) got Zach Galifianakis and brought him into this wild world with Stephen Fry, Matt Lucas and David Williams. We know. It feels like the craziest crossover since Super Smash Bros.

What happens?

A mythbuster on a mission to be taken seriously goes on an adventure to prove the existence of BigFoot. He makes new friends along the way, and there pretty much isn’t a dry eye in the room ‘cause we’re all emotional about how good hearts always prevail. ALWAYS.

Director Sergio Pablos (who also came up with the story AND wrote the script… we stan a multi-talented king) put this vibrant film together with J.K. Simmons (the iconic father Mac MacGuff from Juno) and Jason Schwartzman (also in The Grand Budapest Hotel and Big Eyes).

What happens?

It’s ACTUALLY a Christmas miracle. The power of kindness melts even the most frozen of hearts. This is the origin story of Santa Claus which maybe nobody asked for, but everyone needed. It’s basically a timely reminder of how no matter who you are, the right people will always find you and help you shine. #YesItsTHATDeep

Who’s involved?

The name on everyone’s mind, Bong Joon-Ho (yet another incredible talent who came up with the story and wrote the script) brings some serious realness to the screen. Song Kang-Ho, who’s known for his roles in spine-chilling-no-sleep-tonight-what-just-happened thrillers, the genuinely perfect Choi Woo-Shik who starred in Okja and Train to Busan and the totally epic actress Cho Yeo-Jeong bring this masterpiece to life.

What happens?

The world is a MESS and we been knew but the first-ever non-English film has won an Oscar for Best Picture. Not Best Foreign Film. Best. Picture. Did someone say ICONIC? Let’s put class struggles under the microscope for a hot second and add a pinch of trauma, a dash of humour, a cup of #WhatTheHeck, and a teaspoon of Choi Woo-Shik. (How does someone get that beautiful… asking for a friend)

Director of Toy Story 4, Josh Cooley, had also written the screenplay for Inside Out… so we definitely know who to blame for a lot of our animation-related tears. It’s not a Toy Story movie without Tom Hanks, but it’s made WAY better with Jordan Peele, Keanu Reeves, and the amazing Annie Potts.

What happens?

Basically, Woody started out trying to destroy a fork, but ends up instead being clingy AF to the one and only toy which could really bring joy and comfort to Bonnie. We got the memo about recycling and saving the planet, but is becoming besties with a plastic fork a step too far? Andy reports from the scene…
